History

Jane Wilton-Clark is the daughter of Mr Norman F Odell and Mrs Barbara Odell now Barbara Hannaford-Wilton-Clark.

Barbara Wilton-Clark (nee Odell) began the Shalfleet Kennel in the early 1950's with a greyhound bitch from the Treetops kennel and with a whippet bitch from Wingedfoot

Both founded outstandingly successful lines and so far 35 UK champions have been bred and/or owned by the kennel and over 200 CC's won.

Many others have been exported and Barbara was not afraid to import dogs to compliment her lines.  Today she has retired to Spain but her daughter Jane who was brought up with the Shalfleets has successfully re-established the kennel in Britain.

Jane founded the new Shalfleet whippets in 2001 with an import from Max Magder of the Lorricbrook kennel.  From this bitch, Lorricbrook Mirror Image, she bred Ch Shalfleet Silken Image who was RBIS at Blackpool and also won The Whippet of the Year (supermatch).

In greyhounds she imported a Lorrricbrook male whose daughter won BPIS at Bournemouth in 2007.

She has since gone onto breed the New Breed Male CC Record Holder Ch Shalfleet Simply a Lord, currently holding 39 CC's, 3 HG1 and was twice Best of Breed at Crufts, where he went onto to HG2 and HG4.  Simply a Lord produced the latest champion, Ch Shalfleet Sugar Frosting JW who won the JW Finals at Crufts in 2014 and was BPIS at City of Birmingham
